Description |
Earthenware. Redware. Flat, 1/2-inch thick disk of unglazed red clay. Dark stains in concentric circles on one side. 3-inch crack extends from edge. Gum marks from masking tape on both sides. Uncertain as to the function of this piece. An earlier record lists it as a "crock lid," more likely it is a potter's batt for holding and carrying pots before firing. |
