Drive wheel includes ten turned spindles and spins on a horizontal dowel protruding from angled post set into base. Includes a turned wood head post holding the spindle. These larger wool spinning wheels were operated while standing up.

    Earthenware. Reproduction Pennsylvania folk art redware whistle. Hand-molded bird whistle with elongated neck, pointed beak, upward turned tail, and incised eyes. Each wing is simulated by an incised line between two lines of dots. Brown glaze. Whistle is located in tail. Marked "LB 67" on base. Attributed to Lester Breininger of Berks County, Pennsylvania.

    Wood(Oak). Textile winder includes a carved base consisting of two concave cut boards with square stretchers. The two parallel "X" winding reels have five holes for adjusting the winding dowels. Winder rotates on vertical turned post. White natural fiber wound around reels is period to the yarn winder.

    Glass. Fragment. Flat piece of window glass pane. Pane fragment is arc-shaped and is approximately 50 percent complete. Includes remains of modern, 20th-century clear silicone caulk along edge. Glass believed to be late 18th century, possibly later, and was sealed with modern silicone caulk during a repair.

  10. Yo-Yo - PWF1997.038

    Wood(Pine). Hand-whittled child's yo-yo consisting of two halves of a wood disk fastened at the center with a 1/4 inch diameter dowel pin. Edges of two halves are beveled on the top surface. Remnants of modern cotton string are wound around center pin. Date of child's yo-yo is unknown, but crude construction suggests 18th century to early 19th century.
