Metal(Pewter). English. Wash basin features a tapering rounded body which is slightly irregular in shape and includes a wide top brim. Brim is decorated with single incised line along outer edge. Bottom stamped with a row of three English touchmarks. A partial touchmark on bottom suggests English pewterer John Townsend, who was a major English supplier of finished pewter goods in colonial America.

Grass(Rye). Bread dough basket made from twisted and coiled rye. Rye coils are bound with splintered oak ribbons. Round body with slanted sides. Baskets of this style were typically used for bread dough rising. Basket would be placed near an oven or in the sun, allowing the dough to rise.

Batt - PWF1984.018.324
Earthenware. Redware. Flat, 1/2-inch thick disk of unglazed red clay. Dark stains in concentric circles on one side. 3-inch crack extends from edge. Gum marks from masking tape on both sides. Uncertain as to the function of this piece. An earlier record lists it as a "crock lid," more likely it is a potter's batt for holding and carrying pots before firing.

Glass. Set of 8 trade beads in colors of cobalt blue, green, turquoise, amber and clear. Beads are currently strung on a black and orange wool cord. Older paper tag hand-written with "Found at Wierman Farm, Worcester Twp., Montg, PA." Beads average 1/2 inch in diameter. Donor to the Peter Wentz Farmstead identified these as Dutch trade beads. Identification and date of beads are not confirmed.
